Behold: ‘Ghostbusters’ Headquarters in LEGO Form

We’ve gone to some pretty elaborate lengths in the name of fandom around here, but even we’re agog over the efforts of LEGO artist and Ghostbusters enthusiast Orion Pax, who spent two months studying the film, its sequel, and its animated series to create the ultimate replica of Venkman, Stantz, Spengler, and Zeddmore’s HQ. Pax went room by room and prop by prop, recreating the Ghostbusters’ New York firehouse home in painstaking detail; check out the jaw-dropping photos after the jump.

Photographer Uses His Daughter To Recreate Works Of The Old Masters

Award-winning photographer Bill Gekas takes inspiration from the paintings of the Old Masters of Western Europe, so he decided to try and duplicate some of their most well-known works. The resulting photographs were made all the more interesting for his decision to use his 5-year-old daughter in place of the women in the original paintings. His pictures are as mesmerizing as the paintings they represent.

Artist Paints with Human Ashes

Sergio Portillo, an artist in Florence, Alabama, first began composing memorial paintings using the ashes of deceased pets. Then people approached him with cremated human remains:

On his painter’s pallet, Portillo adds acrylic color with a person’s cremated remains, turning ashes into art.

“The artwork, to me is like an additional memory to the person`s life, you know the pain of missing someone can be overwhelming and I like to believe the loved ones art can help ease the pain in a lot of ways,” said Portillo.

With Sergio’s artwork, every brush stroke brings new color to the canvas adding layers of life to the painting.

“It`s not like the traditional urn, you know, some people just receive a container with the ashes.  I think it`s something additional.  They like to get close to their loved ones,” said Portillo.

According to the artist, these soulful works of art serve as a permanent tribute to family members, reflecting on the life and how the loved one will always be remembered.
