J.J. Abrams and Gabe Newell took the stage yesterday at the gaming industry’s D.I.C.E. conference and talked about storytelling. Frankly, I’m impressed that no rabid journalist ran on stage to pin Abrams down until he answered questions about Star Wars VII.
They did discuss something almost as cool as Episode VII though – it seems like the door open is open for Bad Robot and Valve to collaborate on games and movies.
Newell: What we are actually doing here, we are recapitulating a series of conversations going on. We reached the point that we decided to do more than talk.
Abrams: There’s an idea we have for a game that we’d like to work with Valve on.
Newell: We’re super excited about that and we’re going to figure out if we can make a Portal movie or Half-Life movie together.
